About Lenny

A native of Northport, Long Island and born in 1956, Lenny Pace began playing the drums at an early age. His dad was a drummer so there was always a drum kit in the basement to bang on. Getting tips from his father, drumming has always been a part of his life. He began officially studying the craft when he was 10 years of age with John Kinyon (Mr. Kinyon is the author of the “Breeze Easy” method books, which are still being published today for young students).

As he entered his teen years, he began drum set studies and advanced technique for several years with Larry Callahan, a notorious show drummer and instructor in the New York City region. At the age of sixteen he studied timpani with Gil Breines (who co-author with Louis Bellson - “Modern Reading Text in 4/4” , also percussionist with the New York Philharmonic).

Lenny went on to major in Music Education at State University of New York, Music Performance at Berklee College of Music. He continued his studies with Jim Chapin, another renowned instructor and author of “Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer”.

With many years of experience and exposure to different techniques in drumming and percussion, Lenny has a lot to offer to the aspiring student. Adept in sight reading, the rudiments and applied theory, he covers all phases of drumming.
